Agricoltura, Basic income and other ways to fix capitalism | Federico Pistono | TEDxHaarlem

A few years ago, those who warned us about the risks of technological unemployment were labelled as luddites, crazy, or techno-pessimists. Now some of the greatest economists agree that automation poses a serious threat to the economy, with jobs disappearing and inequality on the rise. Today, those proposing radically new ideas to deal with this problem are being called crazy and idealistic. Old ideologies are outdated in the face of exponential change; we need to embrace a more holistic and adaptive system. I believe experiments with unconditional basic income, coupled with the utilization of crypto currencies and blockchain-based technologies, will help us find the answers.’
Federico Pistono is a futurist, social entrepreneur, hacktivist, public speaker, founder and CEO of konoz – a startup that curates and organizes educational videos, whose mission is to become the largest online community for free learning in the world – and he's author of the best-selling book "Robots Will Steal Your Job, But That's OK: How to Survive the Economic Collapse and Be Happy", which has been translated into Spanish, German, and Italian. He lectures regularly at Universities and Fortune 500 companies about the future of humanity.

Damn commies

Basic income is just a scam to pass on the cost of destroying peoples wages & savings by banksters controlling the fiat monetary system onto the backs of the working class.
-
Look at this skinny alien looking TED talk freak

My question is if we have so much technology and faith in robots/Ai producing abundance and taking over then why dont we use that to make a society where money is not needed at all? I see UBI as a transition to a money less society otherwise we are just chasing our tail. Here is what we need to put together for all mankind so we can finally wean ourselves off of the monetary system all together>> https://www.facebook.com/pg/projectmagrav/photos/?tab=album&album_id=752701781538573

I haven't had lunch. bloody elitist Ted talk wankers
-
What does he mean when he says that there is not really a climate change debate? Presumably he is not talking about the science as that is just science and not a matter for debate. So what debate is he talking about?

The laws regarding things like living in a mobile home vs having a permanent address need to change. Landlords have way too much power. They shouldn't be able to charge such high rates. We need more options with how we can live. If I want to live in a van that I have all my basics in, I should be allowed to.
-
UBI of $2,000 a month as long as the recipient doesn't have children. Boom! Problem solved!
-
I do believe in capitalism. If robots do all the work, products will become extremely cheap, even if the wealth inequality increases. I trust capitalism because it works and it worked in the past while socialism always failed. Universal basic income might work for a short period of time but in the long run it will only increase prices.

Reading the comments and my personal experience when I bring up this up tells me this is already an ideological debate and will probably will become another rallying point for politicians but no solutions will come out it. Maybe we should try to end ideologies.

This guy's research is just Youtube.

His last Tedx Talk was stolen from McAfee's Talk with a tinge of Nick Bostrom's Talk in it.
I'm not trying to rain on his parade, but it would be better to re create and show something innovative than re-iterating same content.

Negate all arguments against Basic Income with Complementary Currency: https://www.scribd.com/doc/311186187/CurrentSea-X-Change

The pale blue dot. Where you are a slave to gravity, and a slave to Capitalist pigs who wont employ you and who have enslaved the remaining to debt and poverty wages.

China : Been there. Done that. Didn't work.
-
Imo the easiest way is to distribute as basic income the "new money" that are created each year.Basic income will come when people with jobs are a small minority
-
Basic Income should not be seen upon as 'free money' but a dividend because ALL people have worked to build the richness on this planet but only a few been allowed to benefit from it, hoarding money in another word. This is the very cause of all the so called 'crisis' and suffering we have today.
-
Basic income is not new. It has been tried before and it doesn't work. This is not innovative.

Machines stealing our jobs? You know what steals my job, as a candle-maker? The Sun! Please, good government, forbid using The Sun!
Honestly, don't listen to this bullshit. Please read Bastiat, Mises, Read first, then try argue with capitalists.

I almost stopped listening when he said "We know what happens when you privatize health care."
Not a single person I know has had their rates go down when the goverment got into healthcare. The affordable care act made my rates double for identical coverage and I make a modest living.
