My opinion is that Ridley Scott is one of the great artists of our time. He has hits and misses but when he hits the target it is at all four levels of the senses, colour and contrast, sound and depth of sound with lighting in three grounds. All combined with a flowing moving story and suspense. He often uses candles in the forground and bright lighting in the depths. The entire movie is a twisted version of the distant love and relationship between Dante Alighieri and Beatrice Portinari wherein Hanibal cares for Clarice Starling and can not help himself.

Absolutely one of my favorite scenes from the movie. My only disappointment was that this was not a real opera as I was looking for it on CD

Hannibal was never really going to harm Allegre. She was way too charming and sophisticated for that. Her husband however was an uncultured wanker. He had to die.

Hannibal Lecter is one of the very few man who devours women not only with his eyes!! :-)

I was very unimpressed by this movie. I am a book type person, and the "Silence of the Lambs" movie was phenomenal in comparison to the book. They were on an equal playing field. This can't come close. They fabricated so much. Like the ending. The boy was fed body parts on the plane at the middle of the book. And in the end, Hannibal and Clarice ate Krendler together. Clarice wanted to. She gave no fight. And then they became lovers and lived under the radar together. Movie was so sadly wrong, and had a bad ending all together.
