@me68206 The jersey produces milk that has a higher butterfat content (5% fat compared to 3.8% fat for the holstein) So the farmer receives a higher price than holstein milk which compensates for the lower milk output. Also their smaller size means they do not eat as much grass or hay So the farmer can keep more per acre

Nice looking cows. I like how they look.
I'm surprised by how small this breed is. Is there some advantage to this breed over the Holstein? Wouldn't a smaller cow have a lower milk output? What's the point of breeding such a cow if one wants to maximize production?
