Agricoltura, Louise Fresco on feeding the whole world
agricoltura | info | prezzo | dati | produzione
http://www.ted.com Louise Fresco argues that a smart approach to large-scale, industrial farming and food production will feed our planet's incoming population of nine billion. Only foods like (the scorned) supermarket white bread, she says, will nourish on a global scale.

I believe she is little misguided. Sustainable organic farms are worlds away from small poor family farms. We need more organic and less big factory farms. Big factory give us wonderbread which is not bread at all but a processed chemical laden piece of junk. We won't feed the world with more chemical farms. We can feed the world by fairly distributing what we already have.

I loved how passionate this woman was. It actually brought a tear to my eye. I think bread is poison, and try to eat an 80% paleo diet, so this hasn't converted me to eating supermarket bread. It has made me worry though about what is going to happen to farmers in developing countries as the world increasingly becomes aware of how bad grains are for your gut.

she works for unilever

Umm.. what??

You stink

I do not believe that giving a developing nation tractors and industrial food paradigms is really helping them. No an elderly woman should not be doing hard physical labor...but should she sit all day and do nothing? Doctors agree staying active keeps your joints flexible and reduces arthritic pain and stiffness. I strongly believe localization of food is better we do not need less farmers. .we need more...If you can get all your food within walking distance...how is the bad?
As far as the romantic notion that small farms are simple..well yes and no...they are physically demanding also known as exercise...so keeps you in shape..what is wrong with that? Simple in less complicated? Yes fewer machines...less to maintain. ..more actual connection with your food .
If this woman had her way..There would only be a few farms making all the food and the rest of the people would have to find other work or ways to connect to the land and people would be lazy and fat ....The answer is really more farms! More localization. ..less industrialization .

White bread is one of the worst foods you can put in your body. How does something like this make it on Ted...? And this silly woman raving on like its a wonderful thing, Its actually poison to your body. Let me elaborate.
Gluten in all forms is harmful to all people (not just gluten sensitive people). Gluten is a type of protein that cannot be broken down by our (or anybody's) stomach acids into individual amino acids and because of this will over time damage your villi (celiac), your stomach lining and can even produce holes (leaky gut) and when that happens food particles, bacteria, toxins you name it will end up in your blood stream and when your immune cells see this stuff arriving it treats it as an enemy. Now the thing is normal bodily functioning cells will also enter your blood stream like this through the leaks and your immune cells will tag these as an enemy so over time your body will essentially be attacking itself.. hence 'inflammation' and auto immune disorders.. Grains are not fruiting bodies of plants that are designed to be eaten by other animals thats why humans (stupidly enough) are the only creature's in nature you see doing this...
ALL GRAINS have gluten in it. When you pick up a 'gluten free' product it is only referring to one specific type of gluten that has been rigorously tested over the years, but there are thousands of different types of gluten all of which are found in grain that have not been properly studied, some not even at all.. If you are gluten intolerant you need to avoid ALL grains and not just the products that say gluten free. Its a hard choice to make and fact to swallow but its the truth. People should in general not eat any form of grain because gluten will harm your body. So when I watch this video and see this silly woman preaching how good White bread which is the single most worst type of grain you put in your body.. Im just thinking... how insane.... wow!
80-90% of your immune system is in your gut and when that gets compromised it causes an endless list of conditions. Gut problems are the root cause of all other forms of degenerate conditions. Now take what i said and add this, if your having problems with gluten then dairy becomes just as dangerous to your body as gluten which literally will create holes in your gut. And take all that and add the fact that people eat way too much sugar which will cause an over growth of candida and just adds to the problem which in itself can also cause damage to your gut and when candida leaves your gut and becomes a fungus conditions will spread like branches of a tree. And all of this will leave your body in a very acidic state which is stew of your bodies problems to come.. You will hear people say 'all in moderation' but i am sorry it doesn't quiet work like that, you cant put poison in your body and think its ok in moderation, its all an accumulative effect..
Please please please ignore this silly woman and that false dangerous info she is spewing out of your mouth.. I can't believe this made it onto Ted just what were they thinking...

Fantastic!

Did you find it odd that ...
...she could make such a perfect loaf in a microwave?
...didn't stir the ingredients more than about 5 swishes?
...didn't knead the dough?
...deprecated the addition of milk, oil, but praised adding chemicals?
...she laid the mitten down when she grabbed the bread?
...she argued for wonderbread but didn't give out wonderbread?

Why not subsidize food that's nutrient rich? We could, instead, for instance, make squash, beans and corn, (like the maya, and we already have corn heavily subsidized) and have subsidized complete proteins for those who need food and nutrition. It's easy to grow, and easily exportable. Less animal products would need to be sold, less water used, less health problems!

that has to be a face audience... this is totally bizarre

She's no post modern idealist. She works for Unilever and is conditioning people to believe what Unilever wants them to believe so that when they proffer their GMO products that people don't fight because somewhere deep inside they remember that "Agricultural Science will help save the world from famine." I'm sure she intentionally avoided using the term GMO even though that's exactly what she is selling.

"Louise Fresco was appointed a Non-Executive Director of Unilever in May 2009. She is also a member of Unilever's Corporate Responsibility and Reputation Committee."

Simply the worst TED talk I have seen
-
Sounds a bit like she thinks multinatinional companies can save the world. While instead they are ruining it with companies like Monsanto that manipulate gens and destroys nature like bees with havy pesticides. Or Nestlé that would like world domination over water to exploit it..... Makes me sad...

Met een parelketting om pleiten voor het voeden van de hele wereld inclusief de armen, vind ik geen heel sterk verhaal.

Retarded malthusians keep pushing the starvation deadline goalpost further and further ahead. More nutty than those end-times fundies
