➣Sinopsis
Pe fondul unor mutaţii sociale - care se vor dovedi ireversibile - filmul urmăreşte destrămarea unei familii ţărăneşti tradiţionale. Încercarea autoritară şi disperată a capului familiei - Ilie Moromete (Victor Rebengiuc) - de a ţine pe loc această realitate, eşuează.
Cu Ilie Moromete dispare un prototip social care a reprezentat secole de-a rândul societatea românească. Dispare de fapt o identitate care nu a mai fost înlocuită.
➣Synopsis
Morometii (meaning the Moromete family) is an adaptation of the first volume of a modern classic of Romanian literature, bearing the same name, published in two volumes (1955 and 1967) by Marin Preda, who is rightly considered as one of the bestpost-WW2 Romanian novelists.
Ilie Moromete faces constant problems: his sister's nagging, taxes and the work in the fields, whilst his older sons, almost grown-up, are now showing signs of rebellion. The book on which the film is based famously starts with the phrase “time showed endless patience to the people”. Yet, in a period heralding irreversible changes, in between the two World Wars, the Moromete family is facing break-up. Ilie Moromete, a real ‘pater familias’, magisterially played by Victor Rebengiuc, feels this, and tries to cling to a way of life which – now we know – is doomed both by the impending war and by the communist regime the Soviets will install.
Time no longer has any patience and cracks have started to appear in the mesh of traditional peasant family. Film director Stere Gulea, taking over from Marin Preda, has managed to convey, through the character of Ilie Moromete, the archetype of the Romanian peasant.

Scena cu Tugurlan este tipicul clasic caz din Romania: unul se revolta impotriva autoritatii mincinoase si hoate pentru toti concetatenii, dar nimeni nu il ajuta, toti stau spectatori si asista dezinteresati cum este pedepsit pe nedrept.

Laudabila initiativa Cinepub. Ma bucur nespus. O mica obiectiune / sugestie: avand in vedere ca majoritatea filmelor au cel putin o descriere, daca nu chiar si un titlu tradus in engleza, pe cand vor aparea si versiuni cu subtitrari in limba engleza / alte limbi? Este o problema recurenta in industria de distribuire a filmelor romanesti (in special online), ele par a fi destinate exclusiv publicului romanesc si sunt limitate astfel unui public mult mai larg. Exista platforme asemanatoare de filme iraniene, de exemplu, unde majoritatea au subtitrari si poti descoperi o lume a filmului total noua si extrem de interesanta. Astept de cativa ani buni sa fie si filmul romanesc accesibil international...
